Which Printing Method is Right for You?

Machine Calligraphy is the only printing method offered at this time

Laser Printing Pen and Ink Calligraphy
Machine Calligraphy Hand Calligraphy

Laser Printing back
This option comes in black ink only. Many envelopes will not feed through laser printers. Often you can see toner from copy machines and laser printers smudge or leave an imprint on whatever the toner is touching. Laser printers are best used for labels and shear vellum papers only.

Machine Calligraphy back
The use of specialized software like Inscribe, Inc. and Personalized Expressions made exclusively for addressing envelopes and typesetting, together with advanced inkjet technology, make Machine Calligraphy the most cost effective way to give your envelopes and imprintables a professional look. Machine Calligraphy is available in most mix-to-match colors and is an affordable alternative to Pen and Ink Calligraphy. Choose from hundreds of typestyles and get excellent results on most papers. We have at least 5 high quality in-house inkjet printers from different manufacturers. We use the machine that produces the best results for your envelopes and other printing needs. The turnaround time can be as fast as the same day upon your list approval.  Click to view the various lettering style.

Pen and Ink Calligraphy by Custom Lettering Bed back
A computerized arm with a Calligraphy pen point attached moves across the lettering bed and writes each letter just as a Hand Calligrapher would. This is the closest to the elegance of Hand Calligraphy without the high price and long turnaround time. The added precision of computer technology has made the Pen and Ink look much more affordable. However this process is very slow, printing only 15 items per hour. Over 50 colors including silver and gold are available in 17 typestyles. This method is more expensive than inkjet printing but much less than Hand Calligraphy. It is necessary when the envelopes are too thick, small, textured, dark or porous for other methods. This is frequently used for small place cards and tags that cannot go through an inkjet printer.

Hand Calligraphy back
For those special events such as weddings or formal affairs, or for certificates and specialty documents on special papers, Hand Calligraphy is an option if price is not an object. Most of the styles feature flourishes, swashes and enlarged zip codes that add to the elegance. Prices range from $2.50 on up for one 3-line envelope. Extra lines and names will cost more. There is always a waiting list for the best Hand Calligraphers. We recommend that your list be complete, as late additions cost extra. Allow sufficient time for execution of your project.
